dc152c54f4 Modernize usage of 'macOS' in doc and comments
Apple changed the spelling of its operating system again, to "macOS",
effective with macOS 10.12 Sierra (2016-09-20). Change Emacs
documentation and comments to match this. Stick with older OS
spellings ("OS X", "Mac OS X") when talking about older releases where
the older names are more correct.

ef7dbdf587 Quote less in manuals
The manuals often used quotes ``...'' when it is better to use @dfn or
@code or capitalized words or no quoting at all. For example, there is
no need for the `` and '' in “if a variable has one effect for
@code{nil} values and another effect for ``non-@code{nil}'' values”.
Reword the Emacs, Lisp intro, and Lisp reference manuals to eliminate
unnecessary quoting like this, and to use @dfn etc. instead when called
for (Bug#21472).

4b41540b42 C-x 8 shorthands for curved quotes, Euro, etc.
Although C-x 8 lets you insert arbitrary Unicode characters,
it's awkward to use this to insert commonly used symbols such as curved
quotes, the Euro symbol, etc. This patch adds simpler sequences for
characters commonly found in English text and in basic math.
For example, assuming the Alt key works on your keyboard and iso-transl
is loaded, one can now type "A-[" instead of "A-RET LEFT SIN TAB RET"
to get the character "‘" (U+2018 LEFT SINGLE QUOTATION MARK).

7195b84120 * mule.texi (International Chars): Adjust C-u C-x = description.
Change it to match Emacs's current behavior. Also, change the
example to use ê instead of À, as the isolated grave accent in the
latter's decomposition listing was confusingly transliterated to
left single quote in the PDF version of the manual.

1df7defd80 Fix minor whitespace issues after "." in manual.
Be more systematic about using "@." (not ".") at end of sentence that
ends in a capital letter, and about appending "@:" after non-ends of
sentences that end in a lower case letter followed by "." followed by
whitespace. Omit unnecessary use of "@:" and "@.". Similarly for "?"
and "!". Be more consistent about putting a comma after "i.e." and
"e.g."; this is the typical American style and it's easier to code in
Texinfo.
